The African founders and builders of New York, forced outside established social and urban limits, have been expelled from history, from sight, and very nearly from memory; they have been made invisible. This project honors our ancenstors by making visible the contributions that they made - often with their lives. This project serves to both inspire and celebrate the living yet unborn, that descend in body and spirit, from those that rest in this ground. This proposal proclaims to those that who were for a moment in time rendered invisible, that their posterity, with humility but also with resolution, will never again have their contributions to the public go unrecognized nor themselves be reduced to a condition of invisibility.
