The Fields Apartment is a project that divides a conventional space dwelling into two more articulate realms: the first being the realm of the image, and the second being the realm of the tactile. This space occupies a high-rise apartment building, thirty floors in the sky, with views across the city of Manhattan. The threshold between the two realms is made by an operable wall of transparent glass, translucent glass and stainless steel.
The "image space" is flattened onto one side of this operable wall through reflection, cast shadow and projected image. Across this threshold are the spaces for the body defined by tactile material and more intimate scales. These physical spaces are revealed across the thin image space as moments of corporeal depth.
